This assignment consisted of bringing new life into a piece of found furniture – all for under $100. My find was a pine cabinet that was given to me for free. My vision was a wine cabinet that would require a completely new addition to the bottom as well as extreme change to the existing area. Using wood from the door cutouts and finding the rest scrap, I built accessories for the cabinet including glass holders that hang from the top and a lattice for storage. After construction, I painted the cabinet black for $8. The finishing touches included a light beam installed at the top which illuminated down the new glass shelves, and can be admired through the new glass paneled doors with brushed nickel hardware. Grand total: $56.
