Broan NuTone, an $800-million a year company, sponsored a studio to create new useful outlets for the traditional medicine cabinet. I focused on penetrating the market by means of a product that was ideal for everyday use while innovating aesthetics and functionality. My focused problem was storing jewelry and other small objects safely from intruders, fire, children and other unwanted visitors. The final solution was a cabinet that integrated the look of jewelry stores’ displays with staying in the parameters of current production tooling. It was immediately picked up for production and debuted only 8 months later at the National Home Builder’s Association “Big Show”. Please visit the NuTone website to view the final product.
