Today I had the honor of meeting an incredible 16 month-old little boy and taking his first set of professional photos in his life. His name is Austin, and he has a contagious energy, personality, and spirit. His connection with his mother was instantaneously obvious. As she sat him down on the ground, I watched him scoot across the floor so fast and happy! He was obviously proud of himself for showing off for company - as he should be. Austin has hydrocephalus and cerebral palsy. He has made amazing strides in his life and will continue to thrive, with the help from his sweet mother, grandparents, family, and friends who constantly work with him using various therapies. His casts, AFPs (splints that go in his shoes to aid in walking), and sensory stimulators were all recorded – as well as some things we could have never planned for a photo shoot! As Kim demonstrated his splints in his shoes, he proceeded to flip over on this stomach and attempt crawling. He went very far to reach his treat (a sucker), and kept going! The best part was when he got so excited and proud of himself, he leaned over, smiled, then kissed his mother – for the first time in his life.
